Dutch Tile Playing Cards

I was fiddling around with the demo of a program called Quick Cards last week and ended up printing a small deck of playing cards for myself.

I’ve attached a screen shot of the cards in my database, with an explanation of the design, and a second image with samples of the finished cards.

I decided that I wouldn’t buy the program unless they allow options, outlines, or crop marks for printing on regular cardstock, but it was fun to try out. I wrote to the company to explain what I did and put a word in for having more printing options, but they seem committed to keep the software only for printing on their special cardstock. My printer won’t take special paper, particularly when it’s perforated as theirs is, so that’s the end of my exploration.

I love tile designs, and when I first got on the Internet I used to download pictures of antique tiles and print them on greeting cards. I have since collected a small collection of clip art and reference books on ceramic tiles and artists, so to commemorate that, this playing card deck was a perfect project for me.

Happy times!
